Colony 13 first opened in Brainerd on June 1st, 1976, with a Bicentennial theme that has had a lasting effect. When the store first opened its doors, it was a shop solely dedicated to carrying early American furniture. The owners (Rodney and Susan Bass) even flew a replica Betsy Ross flag outside. After moving to Northgate Mall many years ago, the second generation is now involved in the running of this boutique and jewelry store! The Bass family has been very pleased with how their business has turned out. Rodney himself designed the store's logo, and their youngest son, Jeff, appears to be willing to carry on the family tradition. As to be expected, Colony 13 has evolved throughout the years and now carries a multitude of brands; brands that seem to be very popular with their patrons. The variety of items this store carries makes Colony 13 a premier gift shop for every special occasion.
